The Birds of 2025 - October

At this stage, is there any point in saying much? It's year 6 of keeping count of all the beautiful birds I'm lucky enough to photograph, and I can't stop now! Last year, I surpassed my goal and photographed 101 species all within the North East of England alone. I'm not sure if I'll beat that impressive number in 2025, but I'm happy to try. Here is what I photographed in October.

-----

October didn't let me down! We returned to the Wetlands after 9 months, which helped me secure 3 new species, including the gorgeous Black Tailed Godwit. We also had a little trip away, and thanks to the help of a bag of seed we took, I was over the moon to see some Tree Sparrows again (my second time ever, my first time being at Bempton Cliffs in April 2024) amongst the throngs that drained the feeder in mere hours. Not only that, but while walking around the area we were staying, Red Kites soared overhead! So exciting!
At this point, it looks unlikely that I'll reach my 100 bird goal this year, but that's fine by me. Considering how little I've left home this year, 78 is pretty impressive... Still, there are 2 months left. Fingers crossed, I can at least tick off two more for a round number!
