East Chevington Nature Reserve

As new members of the Northumberland Wildlife Trust, we decided to have a look through the reserves guide and go explore a new-to-us nature reserve on Tuesday the 14th. We chose an area where dogs were allowed so that we could have a longer wander without the worry of needing to rush home for Baker. So jumper on and buggy in the boot, we headed off to East Chevington Nature Reserve near Druridge Bay.

We really hit lucky with the weather - what a beautiful Winters day! My only gripe is that it was too warm for Winter but let's not go there today. It makes such a huge difference being able to take Baker with us and having his buggy is even better. Of course, not everywhere is dog buggy accessible and as someone who occasionally has to use a wheelchair myself, it does make you realize how inaccessible so much of our natural spaces are. The route we took wasn't too much of an issue with the buggy though and Baker even managed to get out for about 10 minutes for a little dawdle and sniff which he loved (you can see how tired he was by the time we got back to the car where he promptly fell asleep!).

I had quite a successful bird photo haul too! Canada Goose, Wigeon, Mute Swan, Graylag Goose, Bullfinch, Stonechat, Carrion Crow, Song Thrush, Reed Bunting, Curlew and Phesant.

What a lovely day out together.
