The Birds of 2024 // January

This feels strange! Sharing the images of all the birds I photographed last month when usually I wouldn't be sharing them until next year. Hopefully, I can keep on top of compiling these posts each month even if it means a double dose of 'The Birds of...' with 2023's birds being shared alongside.

We're in the 4th year of sharing my birdy photos, though technically 2024's images are year 5.
I can't believe it's been that long! I don't know who, if anyone, cares about these types of posts and I understand that birding, on the whole, is vastly dominated by middle to older-aged males who probably aren't reading a 30-something female's blog! However, as with everything, I love to have this all here to look back on myself.

That being said, here are January 2024 bird photos!

As you can see, it was a pretty good birding month! Two Washington Wetlands trips and a walk along the river in Berwick provided the opportunity to photograph 3 previously unphotographed-by-me birds, the Kingfisher, Water Rail and Velvet Scoter which was exciting. Hopefully, in the future, I'll get the chance to photograph a Kingfisher much closer as it was pretty far away, this photo was taken at my lens' full-length.
Not only were there many wonderful moments and memories but there was also a fantastic species total of 35 for the month! Kicking off 2024 strong!

Check out previous year's 'The Birds of...' posts below.
