30 Days Wild is an annual challenge run by The Wildlife Trusts to encourage us to participate in 'Random Acts Of Wildness' every day in June. In turn helping me to actually really enjoy June which is otherwise, in recent years, too hot to spend much time outside. 2024 marks my 8th year taking part in 30 Days Wild!
This year June hasn't really gone as planned though. As you'll see from the first post, we had planned on taking Baker's annual camping trip and did get to spend one night away, however, he is ageing and wasn't enjoying it in the best way he usually can so we came home early.
Then later in the month, Baker got ill. He has been pretty poorly so my attention is all on him, we can't leave the house without him and I've not had the time to bother with editing photos or blogging.
That all being said, I obviously live a pretty 'wild' life to begin with so although this year might not include much variety I'll still be posting what I got up to. In the past few years, I've shared my 30 Days Wild in weekly increments but this post is the second 3rd of the month, so see below for days 11 - 20 of 2024.
Day 11
Feeding and 'watering' the birds is always part of my daily routine, but today I spent
longer than usually watching the birds as the Starlings appeared with all of their fledglings!
Day 12
I know some people have certain feelings towards mice and rats, however our field mouse
family are adored by us and I love when they come out to eat while I'm sat outside.
It was lovely to sit and photograph them for a while on this morning.
Day 13
You have no idea how special this moment was!
In our five years living here, we've never seen a Woodpecker in our area.
I've seen them at the wetlands and other places in our county but in my garden?!
The great tits stopped by to feed their babies too. That is never not awesome to watch.
Day 14

Day 15
Today I danced in the rain.
Whenever it rains I try to make a point of going into the garden and looking up,
feel it on my skin and appreciate the life giving and sustaining water.
Day 16
Baker and I sat in the garden to have brinner (breakfast/dinner) watched by some friends...
Day 17
Buggy and beastie hunt while doing some gardening.
The very first nasturtium flower has opened too!
Day 18
The famous Northumberlandia!! It's been over 10 years since I last visited
The Lady of the North and the landscape has changed so much.
The wildlife was abundant with an exciting spot of some Little Grebes and the
wildflowers were looking gorgeous. A lovely walk out with my boys.
Day 19
Since the start of Spring I've been keeping a nature journal so I caught up on some painting outside.
Of course, our cheeky mice pals popped out to say hello while I painted.

And just like that, the second third of our wild June was over! I hope you have been able to get outside, do something wild and appreciate how fortunate we are to have the nature and wildlife we do. Our natural world desperately needs help, and you can help by considering it when voting next month. Don't delay! The climate crisis is here and wreaking havoc, we must act now to slow the decline of our dying planet. Without it, there is no future for us.
