30 Days Wild 2024 - Part 3

30 Days Wild is an annual challenge run by The Wildlife Trusts to encourage us to participate in 'Random Acts Of Wildness' every day in June. In turn helping me to actually really enjoy June which is otherwise, in recent years, too hot to spend much time outside. 2024 marks my 8th year taking part in 30 Days Wild!

This year June hasn't really gone as planned though. As you'll see from the first post, we had planned on taking Baker's annual camping trip and did get to spend one night away, however, he is ageing and wasn't enjoying it in the best way he usually can so we came home early.
Then later in the month, Baker got ill. He has been pretty poorly so my attention is all on him, we can't leave the house without him and I've not had the time to bother with editing photos or blogging.

That all being said, I obviously live a pretty 'wild' life to begin with so although this year might not include much variety I'll still be posting what I got up to. In the past few years, I've shared my 30 Days Wild in weekly increments but this post is the last 3rd of the month, so see below for days 21 - 30 of 2024.

Day 21
Our berries and buds and currents are doing well!

Day 22
I've been taking part in BTO's Blackbirds in Gardens study and loved watching this male enjoy our birdbath this morning. A Woodpigeon was taking advantage of the large cherry tree out the front at the same time.
There has also been just one lone Collared Dove I've observed recently and I feel sad for them being without a mate.

Day 23
I love the process of creating a Nature Mandala.
Perhaps I'll try and do more in other seasons too.

Day 24
I rarely see the sunset or sunrise in Summer as it sets so late and rises
even before we get up despite us being early risers.
Unfortunately, Baker had been very poorly and I was up with him at 4.30.
A silver lining was seeing the sunrise.

Day 25
Our votes for Nature were posted today!
We also took some things to the local recycling village and donated our antique desk
to the fantastic Groundworks shop that does great work within the local community.
Of course, we also had to buy a couple of bits and while checking out I had to
get a snap of this super cool artwork made from recycled plastic bottle tops!

Day 26
Provide it and they will come!!
Adore seeing the Goldfinches feed from the wild grass patch we have nurtured in our front garden.

Day 27
Just some snapshots of today at our home.
Pulled my Woodland Wardens Oracle Card for the month too.

Day 28
A solo trip to the wetlands.
I've never gone at this time before but it was great - every hide I went into I had to myself!
I always make a point of 'shaking hands' with the oldest Oak tree in Washington whenever we pass,
a fruitless frog hunt did lead to a few Damselfly sightings, and a Black Tailed Godwit sighting made my day!

Day 29
Regular litter pick day!

Day 30
To round out the month, I tried some Cyanotype art!

---

30 Days Wild may have come and gone in record time, but it's never over if you don't want it to be!

I hope you are always able to get outside, do something wild and appreciate how fortunate we are to have the nature and wildlife we do. Our natural world desperately needs help, and you can help by standing up to this disappointment of a government we have. Join or support your local Wildlife Trust, be a voice for the voiceless, and do the little things that you personally can to look after your community's nature and wildlife. The climate crisis is here and wreaking havoc, we must act now to slow the decline of our dying planet. Without it, there is no future for us.

Although I have been taking part in 30 Days Wild for 8 years now, I've only shared it on my blog since 2021. I hope you'll enjoy seeing what we got up to in years past too.
