What I Read Last Quarter - October - December

Here we have the final quarter of 2022 and the books I read! At the end of the last post, I was at 40 out of my goal of 35 books read and so at that point, I gave myself the stretch goal of 52 - 1 book for every week of the year.. We'll see at the end of this post if I managed to get there.

Oh another thing to mention is that all of the photos from my quarterly reading round ups were taken in the same place. Since last post we have added our pretty little girls Nyx and Calypso to the family so you get a few peeks of them in the background of these photos!

October
Hocus Pocus & The All New Sequel by A.W. Jantha ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Llewellyn's Little Book of Halloween Mickie Mueller ⭐️⭐️
The Girl and the Ghost by Hanna Alkaf  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

- 1080 pages

A slow month of reading apparently. October is my favorite month of the year and our busiest so it's understandable that I didn't read loads but I had hoped to get to a few more of my 'spooky' books. Three books is also the least amount I have read in one month since May when I also read three, though those only totalled to 793 pages, and before that in January I read only one at 860 pages.
It also fell flat star-wise too! Thankfully the final book of the month, The Girl and the Ghost, helped to end October on a good reading note.

November
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Miss Peregrine's Museum of Wonders by Ransom Riggs  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Story of Greenriver Holly Webb  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

- 861 pages

As you can see, although it was another 3 book month it was a very good reading month with all 5-star books! Mr H is a huge Tolkien-o-phile* and though I had read The Fellowship while in 6th form, my personal love of the LOTR world was primarilty down to the movie trilogy, so I thought it was time to delve into the books. We actually stayed at Bag End (yep, a real life Hobbit hole of which many photos are still to come to the blog) for our anniversary so I took this gorgeous edition of The Hobbit to start while in a fitting setting.
The other two books also warrent a huge shout out because a) Ranson Riggs has done it again and b) the cover isn't the only absolutley beautiful thing about The Story of Greenriver!

*you can see a very old post of his Tolkien book collection here which is over 3 years out of date and is much larger now! This post was from when we had our joint book blog. Perhaps we'll do an updated post at some point.

December
The Ripper of Whitechapel: Ghost Hunter Chronicles 2 by Yvette Fielding  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Ghost in the Mirror by John Bellairs  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Stinetinglers by R.L. Stine  ⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Tower at the End of Time by Amy Sparkes  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Willodeen by Katherine Applegate  ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett - Audio narrated by Steven Garnett ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Farmer Giles Of Ham by J.R.R. Tolkien ⭐️⭐️⭐️
A Little Princess by Frances Hodgson Burnet (Audiobook) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Maureen Fry and the Angel of the North by Rachel Joyce
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

- 1488 pages

It's safe to say that December helped me smash my 2022 goal! I don't know how my reading frenzy started but I'm glad I managed to get to some of the books I'd originally planned to read in October. It was lovely to listen to the audiobooks of The Secret Garden and A Little Princess - stories I've treasured since childhood - especially them being
narrated by Steven Garnett with his fantastic Yorkshire accent!
Overall another month full of great books but a standout I reccommend everyone read is Willodeen by Kathrine Applegate! A fantastic story.

So there we have it 15 books for the last quarter of 2022, taking me to a total of 55 for the year. I'm pretty happy with that! Though obviously there is no competition and quantity of books read annually means nothing, I do have so many books that I want to read and it's nice to see myself actually getting through some of them. I still have my 2022 Goodreads Year in Books to share soon so I will leave this post as it is.
I'm excited to see what happens in my reading world in 2023...

Remember to check out my previous books posts of 2022 -
