It's June again! June is, of course, better known to many Nature lovers as '30 Days Wild'!
This is my 9th year taking part in the Wildlife Trust's annual wild activity challenge, and it's a double-edged sword for me. As someone who is very in tune with our natural world, every day of my life includes a suggested activity from The Wildlife Trusts (feeding the birds, planting seeds, having lunch outdoors and many other things). So I either have to get creative...or be extra conscious that what may be a normal, everyday action for me may not be for others, and I can still photograph it to include for 30 Days Wild.
This is Week 2.

8th June - Day 8
World Oceans Day!
To celebrate, I went for an early morning solo walk at Marsden Bay and ended up with the beach to myself. I was lucky enough to spend time with the Kittiwakes (whose numbers have drastically declined over the past 5 years, which is heartbreaking), as well as the following species: Razorbills, Fulmars, Sand Martins, Rock Doves, Cormorants, Oystercatchers, Meadow Pipits, Jackdaws, and Carrion Crows.
To have only the sound of the waves lapping against the shore and the birds chattering was bliss.

9th June - Day 9
I spent a good amount of time watching all the birds bringing their babies to feed in our back garden today. Obviously, I usually spend some time every day watching birds, but to see the next generation arrive is magical. I feel so privileged to have them feel safe here.

10th June - Day 10
While up at my parents' house today, I got to watch the Swifts and House Martins putting on an aerial show.
We also took Baker for a walk from England to Scotland and back again... we were treated to beautiful scenes along the river, accompanied by a Chaffinch and Chiffchaff serenade.

11th June - Day 11
My little patch of wild in the middle of suburban plains. While everyone else around here has plain grass lawns and plastic plants, we let Mother Nature lead the way with our garden. The difference in this garden since we moved in is crazy, and it makes me smile every day.
It's no secret that I don't like living here and long to be in a detached property in the middle of nowhere, but the nature and wildlife that we've been able to nurture helps make it bearable.
(The first photo is the progress of the clover we planted last week).

12th June - Day 12
Attempted a garden bug hunt today, but was sadly disappointed in the lack of buggies this year.
Each year that passes, there is a noticeable decline in garden bugs despite our efforts to attract them.

13th June - Day 13
The very first Nasturtium has opened, and it's a dual colour one! Exciting.
I took my massive June TBR stack into the garden to photograph and had to snap a shot of the cherries on the tree out front, which are out in full force, and the berries on the Hawthorn are on their way (5 years since we planted it, the first year of berries!).
I don't know how many of the books I'll get through this month, but I am determined to try, haha.

14th June - Day 14
Taking stock of all the new life appearing in the gardens! The Flowering quince has its fruit now, the Oak and Maple saplings have had a burst of growth, and the Raspberries are almost done. Nature is amazing.
