June 2026 Overview

For 2026, I wanted to move away from my typical 'Life Lately' monthly round-up posts. I started them in that style in May of 2020, and as I want less and less of my private life to be online, it makes sense to stray away from sharing personal details on my blog. That being the case, these posts will be much shorter than usual, but hopefully, throughout the year, I can think of more ways to share without it being too invasive.
Here are the...

Our Litha Celebrations

Litha! The Wheel Turns and with it comes the longest day and shortest night of the year. From here on the days (thankfully) get shorter as we move closer to Autumn. To welcome the season (though definitely not welcome the heat) we went for a walk >  Summer Solstice Walk at Beamish Valley, spent some time in our front garden appreciating the life that has flourished and the visitors that choose to stop by, decorated our altar, and had our Litha meal outside accompanied by the Elderflower cordial we made recently.
It was a lovely day over all and I hope you also had a wonderful time if you celebrate.

Summer Solstice Walk at Beamish Valley

These photos are from our walk on the morning of the 21st June (the first day of Summer). I can't physically walk far at all these days and so finding a woodland walk that is even semi wheelchair accessible isn't the easiest task. We decided on the go-to place which is technically a cycle path and not actually that wheelchair accessible in a standard manual chair... At least we managed even a short walk among the trees, and I enjoyed a lovely meeting with a Comma Butterfly who landed by us while we had a seat and was a very willing photo subject, turning every so often so I could photography all their beautiful angles!
Bird sightings were sparse and those I did see were difficult to take photos of in the dappled light, so the trees really are the stars of the show.
More photos from our Litha celebrations will be coming in another post soon!
